I have received a jury summons, what do I do now..?

​

 

JUROR QUESTIONNAIRE:

• You will need to complete a juror questionnaire within 10 days of receiving the summons.  This is located under the “Questionnaire” tab. If completing the questionnaire on a mobile device, you may have experience difficulties.  If you are unable to complete the juror questionnaire online, you can fill one out when you appear for service, if your group is summoned in for jury duty.

CALL-IN INFORMATION:

• Follow the instructions provided on your summons for call-in procedures.  Upon calling, a recorded message will guide you through five groups of jurors.  Listen carefully for instructions pertaining to your group.  Your group letter is displayed by the bar code at the top of the summons.

 

REPORTING DATE AND TIMES:

• Should your group be summoned for service, you will need to appear on the specified date and time as instructed on the recording.  PLEASE BRING YOUR SUMMONS WITH YOU AT CHECK IN.

 

JUROR PARKING:

• You may park in the Sedgwick County parking garage located at 603 N. Main, directly North of the courthouse.  There is limited handicap parking in front of the courthouse and in the Sedgwick County parking garage.  PLEASE BRING YOUR PARKING STUB WITH YOU AT CHECK-IN.  We will validate your parking while you are here for jury service. 

 

DIRECTIONS AND MAP:

LUNCHTIME:

• Lunchtime is normally between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m.  There are limited options for lunch, however, the courthouse has a Snack Zone available on Monday and Tuesday only, food trucks, and vending machines located on site.  In addition, you may bring your lunch or you may leave for lunch.  While you are at the courthouse, you may use the jury assembly room for lunch, breaks, or if you need a place to wait before returning to a courtroom.  

 

JUROR PAY:

• You will be paid $10.00 a day for jury duty, $2.00 toward your lunch, and mileage to and from the courthouse each day that you are here for service.

DISQUALIFICATIONS:

• If you meet any of the following disqualifications, you need to contact the jury clerk at 316-660-9101 or review the FAQs tab for further information about being excused from service.  Disqualifications include:

  • Under 18 years of age.

  • Not a Sedgwick County resident.

  • Not a U.S. Citizen.

  • Have been found incompetent.

  • Felony in the last 10 years.

  • Served as a juror in the last year.

  • Breastfeeding.

 

WORK CERTIFICATE FOR EMPLOYER:

• Upon completion of jury service, you will be provided with a work certificate detailing the dates you served for your employer.
